Ridleys On The River
Nestled on the picturesque Bridge Street in Bridgnorth, Ridleys On The River is the kind of place you stumble upon once and keep coming back to-sometimes for the food, sometimes for the live music, and sometimes just for the vibe. It’s the kind of laid-back riverside gem where your English breakfast tastes better with a side of fresh air, and your evening pint pairs perfectly with live performances and good company.
The moment you step through the wheelchair-accessible entrance, you’re greeted by the warm, rustic atmosphere that feels part pub, part eatery, and entirely welcoming. Ridleys isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s proudly local, proudly casual, and proudly satisfying.
Let’s talk food-because Ridleys knows how to feed you right. The English Breakfast here is no frills but full-on flavor, a hearty way to start your morning with eggs, sausage, beans, and toast that remind you why this classic never goes out of style. But breakfast is just scratching the surface. If you’re dropping by for lunch or dinner, the Steak and Stilton Pie is a crowd-pleaser-rich, meaty, and wrapped in golden pastry that crumbles just right. Pair it with mashed potatoes and gravy, and you’ve got comfort food done properly.
Looking for something a little indulgent? The Ridley's Burger with Bacon and Cheese Loaded Fries is not here to play. It’s towering, juicy, and dripping with flavor-the kind of burger you need two hands and zero regrets for. For those who love a British twist, the Yorkshire Pudding and Pie & Mash options won’t disappoint. They’re classic, they’re hearty, and they’re made with care.
What truly elevates the Ridleys experience is the drink selection. This place isn’t just about food-it’s a solid spot for sipping too. Their great beer selection covers local brews and well-loved lagers, while the cocktail menu surprises with creativity. Whether you’re into a smooth Negroni or something fruity with a kick, their bartenders mix with flair and friendliness. Wine lovers are in luck too-the wine list is thoughtfully curated, and there's always a perfect glass to go with whatever’s on your plate.
But here’s where Ridleys really stands out from your usual town pub: live music and performances light up the venue regularly, adding that extra spark to your evenings. Whether it’s acoustic sets that vibe with your wine or upbeat gigs that have you tapping your foot, Ridleys makes sure there’s more than just food to savor.
There’s even dancing, if the mood strikes-and if it doesn’t, you can always enjoy the entertainment from the comfort of the outdoor seating area. Ridleys seems to understand that dining isn’t just about what’s on the plate-it’s about the energy of the place, and this one hums with local charm.
Need something quick to take away? No problem. Takeaway options mean you can grab a box of Sausage & Chips or a cheeky Ham and Cheese Cob on the go. It’s an ideal pit stop for solo diners or anyone craving that “grab-and-go” feel without sacrificing quality.
Coffee drinkers aren’t forgotten either. Whether it’s a creamy Cappuccino in the morning or a refreshing Cold Brew in the afternoon, their drinks menu keeps things caffeinated and delicious.
In terms of offerings, Ridleys is impressively well-rounded. Serves alcohol? Check. Happy-hour drinks and food? Yep. Spirits, beer, wine, food at the bar? Absolutely. This isn’t just a restaurant-it’s a social hub that knows how to keep things buzzing.
Whether you're swinging by for a quiet brunch, a lively evening with friends, or just a good pint and some proper pie, Ridleys On The River manages to hit the mark without trying too hard. It’s authentic, it’s lively, and it feels like Bridgnorth wrapped up in one cozy, riverside spot.

Fab little bar on the river. Over the Easter weekend, I have been there a few times - for a quick drink prior to going elsewhere for a meal, a late night drink as seemingly the latest place open on Good Friday (until 02:30am) and finally for a meal on Easter Monday. We both had a standard size pie with mash and mushy peas. Great that you can choose from about 6 different mashes and 5 different pies. We had steak and ale pie, cheesy mash and mushy peas and steak and stilton, garlic mash and mushy peas. Very filling and good value
We had an amazing private party for my brothers 30th birthday! Ridley’s were brilliant with organising it with us and the venue was amazing! Perfect place for a party with a great space both downstairs and upstairs! Was a such a good night! Thank you!
